As the Mayor, I am thrilled to introduce you to our innovative online platform born out of a deep commitment to supporting our local businesses. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, we witnessed firsthand the challenges our small businesses faced in adapting to the digital landscape. Many struggled to make the transition from traditional brick-and-mortar stores to online selling. Recognizing this urgent need, we took action.
Our journey began with the creation of a Shop Local website, providing a space for businesses to showcase their offerings, hours, and locations without the complexity of online transactions. However, as the demand from our resilient business community grew, so did our determination to offer a comprehensive solution. Today, we are proud to announce the launch of our fully functional e-commerce platform, empowering businesses of all sizes to thrive in the digital marketplace.
But our support doesn’t stop there. We understand that navigating the world of e-commerce can be daunting, which is why we’re offering a free six-week course to any business looking to expand their online presence. Through this program, participants will not only learn to leverage our Shop Local website but also gain the skills to set up e-commerce sites across multiple platforms. Our goal is simple: to be responsive to the needs of our businesses and provide the resources they need to succeed, whether they’re selling locally, regionally, nationally, or even internationally.
